Cam Newton Throws Sideline Tantrum Laced With F-Bombs
Thank you Fox for somehow managing to air not just one Cam Newton f-bomb on national TV but two, in a matter of seconds! The Vine gods are eternally grateful.
Newton has had a crazy season. He's been one of the best quarterbacks in the league for years but finally rose to the top of the ranks in the 2015-16 regular season, after leading the Panthers to a 15-1 record and the label of Super Bowl favorites.
With that success though comes criticism, of which he has faced his fair share this year for his boisterous celebrations and confident swagger. He even incited the rage of a letter-writing Tennessee mom who condemned him as a crappy role model based on his endzone dancing.
And if dancing offended her, then she must've been in an all-out rage after this expletive-laced rant by Newton on the sideline of the Panthers' NFC Divisional round game against the Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers went on to win the game 31-24, but it was a disastrous second half for the home team. Carolina entered halftime with a 31-0 lead, but was held scoreless in the second half as the Seahawks began their campaign toward yet another epic late-game comeback. In the end, the Panthers held on for the win; but obviously Cam's mental and emotional composure was tested as his team continued to falter.
There's no doubt that Cam and the Panthers are a dangerous team that has all of the talent necessary to win Super Bowl. But as that meltdown indicates, Superman's kryptonite may be in his ability to peform when the stakes are raised and the real pressure is on.
