Chargers Owner Dean Spanos Pens Goodbye Letter To San Diego, Fans Reacts
After seemingly decades of waiting for the Chargers to up and leave San Diego, the Chargers have finally done up and left San Diego for the football mecca that is Carson, California's 27,000-seat StubHub! Center (perhaps the only potential landing spot less attractive than the decrepit Qualcomm Stadium). But as we've come to learn about professional sports franchise relocation, the move isn't about football -- it's about money. Owner Dean Spanos didn't get the stadium he wanted from the city of San Diego so he went to a bigger, richer city where he'll spend the next few years trying to pry a free NFL stadium from taxpayers, which will in turn increase the value of his product so that he can eventually sell it for exponentially more than he bought it for.
For this, Spanos definitely owes the city of San Diego a thank you, and thank Charger fans he did. Here's what was posted to the team's social media accounts Thursday morning...

The reaction has been a lovely cornucopia of skepticism, anger and frustration. Ironically, no one was "shocked" by any of this. (Oh, and here's the team's new logo, in case you're curious.)
@Chargers As a fan for 50 years, I wish you complete and utter failure.

@Chargers zero fan base in LA, and lost all fans in SD. I'm officially dropping my fandom for the Chargers.
