Comedian's Modest Proposal: Replace Washington NFL Football Team Logo With Sunburned White Person
There's such wailing and gnashing to teeth over the Washington football team's logo and nickname, which many feel disparages Native Americans. But what if I told you that the controversy could be totally averted? The evidence is above, and below. See? Redskins, but it refers to a white guy. Controversy solved. You're welcome.
Actually it's the brainchild of comedian Hari Kondabolu, who says that the logo should depict a "severely sunburned white person."
And he's taking it to social media. He's asking for people to tweet their versions of a sunburned white person logo at the Redskins with the hashtag #newredskinslogo. Some entries will be featured on a new Tumblr.
"It doesn't matter how old your tradition is," Kondabolu said. "If enough people tell you that it's hurting them, maybe you should reevaluate your choices."
So yeah, we checked the Twitter hashtag feed and found some interesting submissions.
