The New York Daily News Literally Points And Laughs At The Miami Dolphins
Oh, those poor Miami Dolphins. They can't seem to get respect anywhere.
Be it on the field, or in the stands at Sun Life Stadium, the Dolphins are treated as the NFL's running joke. It's not tough to see why: they're still winless after six games, and at times (actually, most of the time) they've looked uncompetitive. Still, it's one thing to acknowledge the fact that the Dolphins aren't a very good team. It's another thing entirely to literally point and laugh at them.
Which is exactly what the shame-inducing six-year-old of major market newspapers, the New York Daily News, has done this morning.
In an effort to make sure his team is taking their Week 8 game with the loserly Dolphins seriously, New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin has spun a bit of a yarn: the Dolphins aren't that bad, they've almost won a few games, they don't commit penalties, blah blah blah. It's all bullshit, of course. The Dolphins are bad. They're terrible. But Coughlin knows he coaches a team that tends to play terribly against terrible teams, hence his sales pitch to end all sales pitches. So he's asking his team to respect the Dolphins, even if no one else (especially the Nelson Muntz of sports pages) does.
