Dan Carpenter’s Wife Issue’s Dog Whistle Tweet About Richard Sherman
Monday night's Seahawks-Bills game was surprisingly action-packed -- at least when you consider both teams' relative lack of offense this season. To be completely honest, at some points the game had a bit too much drama, namely, at the end of the first half when Richard Sherman jumped offsides during a Buffalo field-goal attempt and proceeded to dive into the plant leg of veteran kicker Dan Carpenter.
Sherman was not charged with a personal foul (which would've been "roughing the kicker"), though Carpenter was briefly attended to Bills' medical personel on the field before getting up on his own power. Officials then ruled that, because the game had to stop so that Carpenter's left knee could be looked at, he had to sit out a play, which prompted Rex Ryan to lose his mind because Tyrod Taylor would have to then spike the ball with three seconds left in order to allow Carpenter to return on the following play. The Bills were then slapped with a "delay of game" penalty while Carpenter's 49-yard kick sailed through the uprights (even though the official had only moved away from the line of scrimmage with five seconds left on the play clock), meaning Carpenter would then have to attempt another, longer field goal, which he missed.
It was a dirty play that went unpunished and resulted in a total shitshow, so we can understand why anyone -- especially Dan Carpenter's wife -- would be pissed about how it all went down. What we can't understand, is why she would tweet out something comparing Richard Sherman -- who is loathed by some for his candor on racial issues -- to a farm animal.
Her suggestion: bind Richard Sherman's head in an iron bit.
We'll let you decide what her intended subtext was...
