RotoExperts' Davis Mattek Gives Pre-Combine Dynasty Fantasy Football Rankings
As part of the all-inclusive NFL365 package on Roto Experts, myself and Anthony Amico will be bringing you consistently updated dynasty fantasy football rankings. This first released version does not yet encapsulate rookies or the bearings of free agency but is a good masthead for how to manage your fantasy teams over the next 2 before your rookie draft.
Notes On Big Differences Vs Expert Consenus
-Travis Kelce features in my Top Ten which is a massive jump compared to the census. He is the best tight end, which is an incredibly scarce position particularly in dynasty where top end players are harder to move. Kelce is also linked the best young quarterback in the NFL and functions as the primary pass-catching option. If anything, I might be low on him!
-Todd Gurley is much lower in my ranks than the average ranker and it should be clear why. He suffered an injury during the 2018 season that decreased his effectiveness and showed his coaching staff that other, cheaper running backs can succeed in their offense. If Gurley is in a timeshare moving forward, he is an inherently less valuable player.
-Damien Williams is all over the place in terms of rankings. For me, it doesn't make any sense to treat him like a player that didn't accomplish anything last season. Just as tens of running backs before him came out of nowhere, were studs for two seasons and then faded away, Williams should be valued like a player who just scored five touchdowns in the playoffs and was the best offense in the NFL's lead back.
-Kenny Golladay and Chris Godwin are two very large stances for me. I am trying to acquire them in as many different leagues as possible and think that both have WR1 ceilings for the foreseeable future. Godwin, in particular, seems to have a good set up with Bruce Arians as his new head coach.
-Rashaad Penny is on my do not draft list. The talent coming out of college certainly was not #bad but it seems like the Seahawks have found their answer at running back and it is 7th round draft pick, Chris Carson. Pete Carroll has always tried to install the mantra that the best players will win out regardless of paycheck and Carson clearly outplayed Penny last season.
-With Demaryius Thomas not on the Texans roster for 2019 in all likelihood, Keke Coutee is going to be the full-time slot/third WR for Deshaun Watson and the Texans. Coutee had some very impressive games in his rookie season despite battling injuries. A WR trio of Deandre Hopkins, Will Fuller, and Coutee should inspire fear in opposing defenses and let Coutee have free run in the slot against softer coverage.
