Eagles Fans Are Gonna Be So Pissed When They Find Out Mark Sanchez Is Starting Over Sam Bradford
After an offseason of personnel moves that made Philadelphia Eagles fans do spit takes with their roasted pork sandwiches, Chip Kelly has gone and done the unthinkable: Mark Sanchez, not Sam Bradford, is getting the start in Sunday's preseason opener against the Colts.
It's as if Lemony Snicket is running the show down in Philly. Just when you think Eagles fans couldn't get trolled any harder, bam, this shit happens.
[NFL.com] Head coach Chip Kelly announced prior to the start of Friday's training session that quarterback Sam Bradford will not play in the preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts. Instead, Bradford is scheduled to make his preseason debut next week when the Baltimore Ravens come to Lincoln Financial Field.
Kelly said that this was his decision. He felt that Bradford has only done two weeks of 11-on-11 drills and wanted to bring him along at the right pace. When Kelly spoke with Bradford, the quarterback was not happy with the decision. Bradford did not start the preseason opener last year for St. Louis either when he was coming back from his first ACL injury.
In case you've forgotten/repressed the memory, Kelly signed the injury prone Bradford to a lucrative six-year deal worth $78,045,000 ($50 million guaranteed), making him the 16th highest paid player in the National Football League. Bradford has played in seven games since 2013, throwing just 262 passes until he tore his ACL, only to tear it again last preseason. He is a walking red flag.
With the news that Sanchez will be getting the start over Bradford, we can conclude one of two things. Either Chip Kelly is trying inject some fire into the Eagles quarterback competition by slighting his biggest offseason signing, or this is the most sophisticated long-con prank in the history of professional sports. It'd be like selling your house to buy a Bugatti Veyron, then driving your Volkswagen Golf on the first day of summer.
Here's how Eagles fans are handling the new thus far...
@Eagles fuck you kelly
