Eagles Players Still Miffed About Greg Hardy Banner Trolling Stunt
The Eagles-Cowboys rivalry took a weird turn last week with a battle of banners -- Philly fans started a GoFundMe campaign to fly a message over Cowboys camp in SoCal -- "We Got DeMarco". (The banner never went up, in deference to a pilot who was killed in a crash at the same airport). So the Cowboys retaliated with a banner of their own, "WE STILL DEM BOYZ!!!! #SACKSCOMIN", which flew over Eagles practice at Lincoln Financial Field.
The big difference? The latter banner was funded by Cowboys DE Greg Hardy, who donated $300 to the GoFundMe effort. And that rankled several Eagles players.
Eagles tackle Lane Johnson (to NJ.com):
“A waste of money. I think he’s a hothead and gets carried away with himself. He’s going to have his hands full with [Jason Peters], I promise you that.”
Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans (to Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman):
“It’s no big deal. We’re not concerned about them, but it seems like they’re concerned about us.”
Eagles DE Fletcher Cox (via Sportress of Blogitude):
“It would rub anybody the wrong way. We came here today to salute the soldiers and then you look up during the national anthem and you see something like that. I think it was real disrespectful to us and to the people who serve us.”
Eagles NT Bennie Logan, on Twitter:
“Shows what kind of character they have,” he said. “That’s pretty stupid of them.”
It's probable that this will all blow over by the time Hardy takes the field, however. The new Cowboy is out until Nov. 7, as he's serving a four-game suspension for domestic violence, an incient which occurred when he was playing for the Panthers.
