Florida Man Applies for Buccaneers Head Coaching Job
Everyone who wins their fantasy league always gets at least two things; bragging rights and the prize set by fellow fantasy coaches. In this case, one fantasy owner tried his luck at heading to the big leagues, and found some interesting results.
Andrew Forgino, 29 and a former marine, is a huge Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan as well as a successful fantasy football owner. He boasts a drive for winning and a "pretty good win percentage" against his peers. Forgino, a Florida native, was saddened by the firing of head coach Lovie Smith. He believed Smith deserved to stay at least another year. After Smith's untimely dismissal, Forgino decided that ultimately there was only one person that should replace Smith. Himself.
After browsing social media one day, he decided, "I'm going to apply for this job". As you can see in the video below, Forgino wrote a very detailed and lengthy letter regarding his qualifications, and sent his resume to the Bucs Human Resources department. He sent his formal application through the Bucs website to apply for the job. The characteristics that made him a strong candidate were his leadership mentality and strong devotion to the team as a whole.
As of today, Forgino has yet to receive word on whether or not he will get the chance to assume the title of head coach, despite his story going viral across the globe. The Buccaneers hiring of Dirk Koetter probably doesn't bode well for Forgino's immediate chances. But at the rate that the Bucs hire and fire coaches, maybe in the future!
Job title or not, FNTSY Sports Network correspondent Tim Gilbert gave Forgino the chance to play head coach, even if it was just for a few minutes. After a series of tough coaching questions, ranging from Jameis Winston to their "calculator font uniforms", Gilbert graced Forgino with a makeshift Gatorade bath as if he had just won the Super Bowl.
Whether Forgino gets the call for a follow up interview or not, we have to give the guy credit for at least giving it a shot. Most fantasy owners keep their NFL dreams to themselves, but for Andrew Forgino, he "keeps it a Buc".
