Frightening ‘Mini Ditka’ Hat Extends Packers Curse To 0-3
The most amazing thing about this hat is, knowing McDonald's, it had to go through several rigorous approval stages before making it to the screen. An ad agency had to discuss it and design it, craftsmen had to build and paint it, and then a host of McDonald's executives had to review it, send notes, make changes (fries too small! Bigger mustache!) before filming.
Eventually of course it will end up as a toy in your child's Happy Meal.
So behold this hat from the underworld, a prop from the latest McDonald's Game Time Gold sweepstakes commercial which has spawned the most potent curse in the NFL. In the first version, released in late October, Mike Ditka donned a Green Bay sweater, and the Packers then lost their first game of the season. But now he's upped the ante (and the outrage among Bears fans) in the second commercial by donning this "Little Ditka" hat. The Packers then lost to the Lions -- Green Bay's third straight defeat.
By the way, in the same commercial Jerry Rice is wearing a Cowboys jersey and Stetson.
And since these commercials debuted, the Packers and Cowboys are a combined 0-6. But the Packers' curse is stronger, because they were undefeated prior to Ditka becoming a turncoat.
