From Bad to Worse: DeMarco Murray Questionable For Week 3
As if things couldn’t get worse for the NFL’s leading rusher.
DeMarco Murray, the Eagles free-agent running back, got an MRI on his hamstring injury Wednesday and is considered questionable for their Week 3 game against the Jets in New York-ish New Jersey.
While the injury isn’t considered serious, the Eagles don’t need him to have any more problems, as he has just 11 rushing yards after two games with his new team this season. (He rushed for 1,845 yards with the Cowboys last season.)
Time to Buy Low on Murray in Fantasy?
Fantasy Football owners should be taking this opportunity to jump all over Murray’s availability, especially if he’s on a team that has lost other stars to injury, like Jordy Nelson, Kelvin Benjamin and Dez Bryant.
Let’s count the ways as to why we believe things will work out for Murray later this season:
- The Eagles have a new quarterback, two new running backs and they lost their leading receiver from a year ago. It’s going to take some time before this uber-offense starts clicking the way Chip Kelly wants it to.
- This Eagles offensive line is much better than how they have been playing lately.
- The Fantasy schedule looks pretty light against running backs for the remainder of the Eagles season.
Interestingly, looking at CBSSports.com’s Dave Richard’s Trade Value Chart for this week, he has Latavius Murray above DeMarco Murray in value. I’d take that deal all day long.
In that same column, though, he lists Tom Brady, T.Y. Hilton and Alshon Jeffery as players close to Murray’s current trade value.
