Go Young and Old with Browns Baker Mayfield and Dolphins Frank Gore in Week Seven
Sneaky plays for Week Seven
Baker Mayfield @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Baker Mayfield has been a breath of fresh air for a Browns offense that was somewhat stagnant to begin the 2018 season. He has scored in three straight games while averaging 291 passing yards over that span. In Week Seven, he gets a prime matchup against a Bucs defense that is currently the worst in Fantasy in points allowed to the position (28.39 Fantasy PPG). This defense has allowed a 300-yard passer in every game and outside of Week Two, they have surrendered at least three touchdowns to each quarterback they’ve faced. With four teams on bye this week, Mayfield could be a stream-worthy option that gives you low-end QB1 numbers at little to no cost. In DFS, he will likely be a highly owned player based on the matchup, so be prepared to pivot off of him.
Frank Gore vs. Detroit Lions
Coming off his first 100-yard game of the season, Frank Gore has surprisingly taken hold of the backfield duties in Miami. This week, he faces a Detroit Lions defense that is among the league’s worst units in points allowed to opposing running backs (25.94 Fantasy PPG). The defense hasn’t allowed a rushing touchdown since Week Two, but they have been susceptible to allowing yardage and scores through the air, having allowed a receiving touchdown to a running back in two of the last three games. With the Dolphins willingness to establish the run, look for Gore to pile up yardage. I can see him giving you another solid performance with 95 yards on the ground and a trip to the end-zone, making him worthy of a play as a low-end RB2 this week. In DFS, he may go overlooked, so plug him into your lineup as a cheap play and build your roster elsewhere.
Willie Snead vs. New Orleans Saints
It will be a revenge game for Willie Snead in Week Seven, as he faces his former team in the Saints. Snead has seen his catch totals become very consistent over the last three weeks (six, five and seven) and will be facing a defense that is one of the league’s worst in points allowed to the position (36.26 Fantasy PPG). The Saints have routinely allowed points to slot receivers in particular, and that should not change in this matchup. Look for the Ravens to get Snead involved early and often in this game, making him a sneaky play in your Flex spot for this week. If you’re in a tough spot with byes or injuries, Snead will fill in nicely with a six-catch, 80-yard stat line and a potential score. As a DFS play, Snead could be a longshot option that helps you cash in.
Charles Clay @ Indianapolis Colts
Charles Clay has been silent to start the 2018 season, as has the Bills’ entire offense. But a matchup against the Colts in Week Seven could be the week that he gets on track. With Nathan Peterman replacing Josh Allen under center, they will likely be playing from behind in this game. This means more opportunities to get the ball into Clay’s hands. He may not be a sexy name to plug into your lineup based on previous performances, but I could see him giving you a five-catch, 60-yard day. Add in a possible touchdown and you have yourself a low-end TE1 this week. He’ll largely be unnoticed in DFS in Week Seven, so plugging him into your lineup will be the ultimate risk/reward play.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Buffalo Bills
I know that I just suggested Charles Clay above in this same matchup, but as a whole, this Colts defense is a very sneaky play in this game. It is looking more likely that the Bills quarterback for the week will be either Nathan Peterman or Derek Anderson. Neither player will be an upgrade for the Bills offense, and if Peterman starts you’re almost assured of a defensive score here. This makes the Colts a great grab as a one week pickup and a DFS option that could be in most lineups.
