Injuries to Monitor, Week 4 Game Day Inactives
Late Game Update
Falcons Inactives - QB Sean Renfree, WR Harry Douglas, T Ryan Schraeder, C James Stone, DE Cliff Matthews, LB Tyler Starr, CB Javier Arenas
No real big deal here. The important thing is that Roddy White is active. It figures to be a big game for White and Julio Jones without Douglas. Jacquizz Rogers could see more action too.
49ers Inactives - QB Josh Johnson, WR Quinton Patton, TE Vance McDonald, C Dillon Farrell, C Marcus Martin, DE Cornellius Carradine, CB Tramaine Brock
The good news is that Vernon Davis is active and will play.
Eagles Inactives - QB Matt Barkley, WR Josh Huff, T Kevin Graf, C Jason Kelce, DE Taylor Hart, LB Mychal Kendricks, CB Jaylen Watkins
Chargers Inactives - RB Ryan Mathews, TE David Johnson, C Rich Ohrnberger, LB Jeremiah Attaochu, LB Manti Te'o, LB Reggie Walker, CB Jason Verrett
Ledarius Green is active.
Jaguars Inactives - RB Storm Johnson, WR Tavarres King, WR Marqise Lee, TE Clay Harbor, T Austin Pasztor, G Tyler Shatley, CB Jeremy Harris
Vikings Inactives - WR Charles Johnson, WR Rodney Smith, TE Kyle Rudolph, G David Yankey, DE Scott Crichton, LB Chad Greenway, LB Brandon Watts
Colts Inactives - WR Da'Rick Rogers, G Hugh Thornton, C/G Khaled Holmes, DT Arthur Jones, LB Jerrell Freeman, LB Andy Studebaker, S Colt Anderson
Jets Inactives - WR Jalen Saunders, T Ben Ijalana, G Dakota Dozier, DL Kenrick Ellis, LB A.J. Edds, LB Ikemefuna Enemkpali, CB Dee Milliner
Raiders Inactives - QB Matt Schaub, WR Denarius Moore, WR Rod Streater, T Matt McCants, G Tony Bergstrom, LB Nick Roach, LB Sio Moore
No Moore or Streater means more garbage time receptions for James Jones, and Andre Holmes could see more action this week as well.
That does it for the early games. We will return with an update prior to the 4:00 games.
Titans Inactives - QB Jake Locker, WR Kris Durham, TE Taylor Thompson, T Byron Stingily, DE Ropati Pitoitua, LB Akeem Ayers, CB Brandon Harris
Jake Locker is officially out, so Charlie Whitehurst becomes the starting QB, which means your Titans’ receivers all should be downgraded a couple of notches. Avoid if at all possible.
Buccaneers Inactives - QB Josh McCown, RB Mike James, WR Robert Herron, T Kevin Pamphile, G Kadeem Edwards, DE Larry English, LB Mason Foster
With McCown out, Mike Glennon will be under center. A tough matchup just got a little tougher for the Bucs.
Packers Inactives - QB Scott Tolzien, WR Jarrett Boykin, C Garth Gerhart, LB Carl Bradford, LB Brad Jones, CB Demetri Goodson
Jarrett Boykin is out, so there should be some additional targets for Davante Adams this week.
Dolphins Inactives - RB Knowshon Moreno, G Shelley Smith, G Billy Turner, C Mike Pouncey , DT Randy Starks, LB Koa Misi, LB Chris McCain
Steelers Inactives - QB Landry Jones, WR Martavis Bryant, G Ramon Foster, C/G Wesley Johnson, NT Daniel McCullers, ILB Ryan Shazier, CB Ike Taylor
Lions Inactives - QB Kellen Moore, TE Joseph Fauria, T LaAdrian Waddle, DE Larry Webster, LB Travis Lewis, CB Cassius Vaughn, S Don Carey
The most notable name here is not listed – Calvin Johnson will play today. Use him as you normally would.
Ravens Inactives - WR Michael Campanaro, T Eugene Monroe, G John Urschel, DE Lawrence Guy, DT Timmy Jernigan, LB Arthur Brown, CB Lardarius Webb
Bills Inactives - RB Bryce Brown, WR Marcus Easley, WR Marquise Goodwin, T Cyrus Kouandjio, G Chris Williams, LB Randell Johnson, CB Ross Cockrell
Texans Inactives - QB Tom Savage, WR DeVier Posey, T Jeff Adams, LB Jadeveon Clowney, CB A.J. Bouye, S Shiloh Keo, S Eddie Pleasant
Panthers Inactives - QB Joe Webb, RB Jonathan Stewart, RB Fozzy Whittaker, TE Brandon Williams, G Andrew Norwell, LB Thomas Davis, S Tre Boston
With Jonathan Stewart out and Fozzy Whittaker also sidelined, DeAngelo Williams becomes the only healthy RB with any kind of pedigree. Williams will see plenty of reps but a tough matchup makes this a situation you don’t want to deal with.
Bears Inactives - T Charles Leno, G Matt Slauson, C/G Roberto Garza, DE Jared Allen, DT Jeremiah Ratliff, LB Shea McClellin, CB Sherrick McManis
For those in IDP leagues, Jared Allen finally misses a game after 113 consecutive starts.
Eric Decker will play, but we’re hearing reports that he’ll be on a monitored snap count today. That makes him a risky play, at best.
Brandon Marshall has been spotted on the field for team warmups. Word is that he will play today. He still has a lower floor than usual but you have to start him.
Calvin Johnson will play today according to Adam Schefter. He only made 40 percent of practices last year, so don't worry about Megatron.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com is reporting that Arian Foster will play today. He's a risky play because there is always the risk of aggravating his hamstring injury. We still could see plenty of Blue today too. Use at your own peril!
Welcome to the Sunday morning edition of the Xpert Eye. This is a live blog today; we’ll be listing all of the Week 4 inactives and injury updates as they become available. The very latest updates starting after 11 AM EST this morning will appear at the top of this document. We’ll begin here with the things we know as of 10 AM this morning.
First and foremost, don’t forget that the following teams are on a bye for Week 4: Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, and St. Louis Rams.
The following players were ruled out already:
WR Rod Streater – The Raider rarely win on the east coast, and today they’re playing in London, which can only be worse, right? Still, James Jones figures to see plenty of garbage time targets with Streater out of action. At the very least, he’s a decent Flex option.
TE Kyle Rudolph – Rhett Ellison becomes the starting TE for Minnesota, but he’s not considered a Fantasy worthy starter. The smart money is on Greg Jennings to benefit from Rudolph’s absence; he could be targeted regularly by Teddy Bridgewater, as the veteran presence among the Vikes’ receivers.
WR Marqise Lee – Allen Robinson is the guy you want from the Jags but Cecil Shorts was targeted 10 times last week and could end up as the busiest receiver again. The Jags have a tough matchup (well, just about all of them will be), so if you have other options they should be strongly considered.
RB Ryan Mathews – We’re going to see a ton of Donald Brown again, but don’t be surprised if the Chargers start to work Branden Oliver in a bit more.
RB Mark Ingram – Drew Brees should have a field day with the Dallas defense and we’re expecting Pierre Thomas to be heavily involved with the passing game out of the backfield.
Injured Players To Monitor
QB Josh McCown – Latest word is that he has a torn ligament in his hand, so Mike Glennon will start today’s game for the Buccaneers. Downgrade your Bucs receivers with Glennon under center.
QB Jake Locker – According to Adam Schefter, Charlie Whitehurst will be the starting QB for the Titans today. Bench Locker, who may or may not be active. Either way, he’s useless today.
RB Maurice Jones-Drew – He should play today and get 12-15 touches, which is just enough to diminish his value and that of Darren McFadden.
RB Arian Foster – You just never know with Foster, who made it clear he would only play “when he’s ready.” If he does play there is a chance that he is limited to about 15 touches, with Alfred Blue picking up the slack. If he doesn’t play, then Blue gets the whole enchilada and becomes a nice RB2. Either way, playing Foster today is fraught with peril. If you have another option, use it.
RB Jonathan Stewart – It sure doesn’t sound like he will play, so DeAngelo Williams becomes the full-time starting RB. This is a terrible matchup regardless of who plays or how much he plays.
RB Doug Martin – A healthy Martin diminishes any value Bobby Rainey might have had. They’ve got a tough opponent in the Steelers, so I wouldn’t expect much from either of them.
WR Brandon Marshall – It looks like Marshall will play but he’s a boom or bust player due to the presence of a healthy Alshon Jeffery.
WR Vincent Jackson – He has a fractured wrist but is expected to play and get a full share of targets from Mike Glennon. With a tough matchup, this has boom or bust written all over it.
WR Eric Decker – The latest news had him playing today but only on a limited basis. He also fits in that category of a player to sit if there are other options.
TE Vernon Davis – According to Adam Schefter, Davis is going to play today. He figures to be heavily targeted in the red zone in a game that shapes up as a shootout on paper.
TE Ladarius Green – Antonio Gates is healthy and will very likely be the primary TE today whether or not Green plays. Word is that Green is more like doubtful than questionable.
