Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Says He Can Fix Johnny Manziel
Poor Johnny Football. The Cleveland Browns are almost assuredly through with him (pending thoughts of new head coach); LeBron James has dumped him from James' marketing agency; he just got another traffic violation; and what he does in Vegas can't even stay in Vegas.
Like so many of us who have experienced problems with addiction, sometimes it seems like the only place left to turn is to professional wrestling.
WWE legend Jake "The Snake" Roberts, inventor of the DDT finishing move and self-proclaimed psychological warrior, says that the only chance Manziel has now is for Roberts to take him under his wing and help him beat his perceived party and alcohol addictions. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Roberts said:
“I’m trying to get ahold of Johnny Manziel, and I’m going to tell that boy, ‘You need to get on Antabuse,'” Roberts says. “I understand where his head is at. I understand what it is to be Jake the Snake, or Johnny Football. You got all of these expectations from other people. Not just yourself, but other people. You start being the party guy for them.”
Roberts wrote in his autobiography that fellow wrestling star Dallas Diamond Page helped him sort through his own addiction problems in 2012, and without Page's help, he now could be dead.
"If somebody can put me in contact with [Manziel], do it. Not only him, but several of those guys who are screwing up out there...like [TCU quarterback] Trevone Boykin," Roberts says. "You were going to be in a bowl game, and look what you did. I'd love to get ahold of him and sit him down. Say what I did in my career and what I did. At least I had a career before I blew it.
"Let's get Johnny Manziel out here," he continues. "I'll take care of him...I'll save his life or drive him crazy, one of the two."
That seems to be a better approach than this:
