Thursday Night Fights: Vikings’ Jared Allen and Bucs’ Donald Penn Go At It, Allen Immediately Gets Sack
Jared Allen is not a man you want to make angry on the football field. Not even because he's 6-6 and 270 pounds - though that's certainly a good reason for an average-sized person not to mess with him, fellow football players, especially the offensive linemen he goes up against, actually outweigh him by a fair amount. And it's not his fondness for guns. Guns are not permitted for use in football games.
No, the real reason you don't want to make Jared Allen angry during a game is because he's good, he's going to take that anger out on you professionally instead of personally. And we saw an example of this last night during the Vikings' game against the Buccaneers. Allen thought the Bucs' Donald Penn went a little overboard blocking him. The players rumbled. Allen came away with a bloody nose. But Allen wasn't content to let the pucnhing/shoving match be his revenge:
It was Allen's seventh sack of the year, and probably his most personally satisfying. Then again, since the Vikings were beaten soundly last night, we're sure he's not quite as happy about it as he wants to be. And that, we bet, makes him mad. To the Vikes' next opponent, the Seahawks: beware. Do not anger this man any further, or Russell Wilson will spend the whole game on his back.
