After their worst season in a decade, San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York decided to let go of Jim Harbaugh-replacement Jim Tomsula, who had been the team's defensive line coach for the previous nine seasons. This was his second head coaching stint in his career, having coached the 49ers for a game after Mike Singletary was fired back in 2010. Prior to that he was a defensive line coach in Europe.
Europe, guys. Jim Tomsula's been to Europe.
York reportedly relieved Tomsula of his duties indirectly, further contributing to the narrative that he's a shitty rich kid with poor managements skills that only hinder the franchise's chances of landing a top tier coach this offseason. The short list of candidates for the vacancy currently stands at Chip Kelly, Mike Shanahan, Sean Payton and Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase -- all viable options who probably don't find the job all that enticing, nor are they as hilarious to look at on an NFL sideline.
