Jon Gruden And Mike Tirico’s Perfect MNF Tribute To Frank Gifford
ESPN Monday Night Football announcers Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico kicked off the season by honoring the late Frank Gifford during the Eagles-Falcons broadcast with just the right amount of nostalgia and class; they wore the same gold jackets Gifford wore during his very long time calling MNF games for ABC.
The legendary Gifford passed away in August at the age of 84. Anybody who watched football or even turned their TVs on every once in a while between 1971 and 1997 saw Gifford and his announcing partners Howard Cosell and Don Meredith wear their now iconic gold jackets in the booth.
Gifford was an eight time Pro-Bowler and the 1956 NFL MVP who played all 12 of his NFL seasons with the New York Giants before retiring to television to become a broadcasting legend as well. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1977.
