Mark Ingram RB, Saints: toe injury
When Ingram wasn’t at practice on Wednesday or Thursday, there was growing concern over his Week 13 availability, but he was at practice on Friday and is on track to suit up. The injury is to his toe, but it didn’t keep him from playing last week. Expect Ingram to continue to share backfield duties with Tim Hightower. Cautious start.
Tyrell Williams WR, Chargers: labrum injury
Williams injured his shoulder reaching for a ball last weekend, the same shoulder he hurt in 2014. The injury is being called a “labrum issue,” but there’s no indication yet that he has suffered another tear. Williams was back at practice Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday, and reports continue to indicate he will play. Risky start.
Sammy Watkins WR, Bills: foot fracture
Sammy Watkins was activated from IR before the Bills’ Week 12 game and played almost half of their offensive snaps, but when he was listed as DNP Wednesday it was a concerning sign. He experienced soreness in his foot, which is normal when returning from this injury, but it sounded like it could be more than just a little bit of soreness. He did practice on Thursday and will be active Sunday, but his usage may be even lower than last week. Cautious start.
Andrew Luck QB, Colts: concussion
Luck missed Week 12 because of a concussion, but he has practiced the last two days without any symptoms and is expected to get cleared later today by an independent neurologist. He will be a QB1 facing off against the Jets on Monday night. Cautious start.
Jeremy Maclin WR, Chiefs: groin strain
Maclin will finally return this week after being sidelined since the 1st quarter of the Chiefs’ Week 9 game when he injured his groin. The Chiefs have brought him back slowly, which is the right move for a groin injury, something that can easily recur if a player returns too soon. The Falcons’ defense has been more impressive in recent weeks, but he should still be in for a solid day. Cautious start.
Jordan Matthews WR, Eagles: ankle sprain
Matthews tried to play through an ankle sprain in Monday’s loss to the Packers but was only able to play a few snaps in the second half. The Eagles initially indicated he would suit up, but after a DNP Wednesday, limited practice Thursday, and another DNP Friday, it’s looking less and less like he will be available. Expect him to be a true game time decision. Don’t start.
Brandon Marshall WR, Jets: knee and foot injuries
It’s never all that surprising to see Brandon Marshall on the Jets’ injury report, but after two days of not practicing, there’s some slight concern now that he could miss their Monday night game against the Colts. He is listed with knee and foot injuries but there are no real details about them. Hopefully, the team is just managing his reps as he deals with soreness. Risky start.
Derek Carr QB, Raiders: dislocated pinkie
Carr suffered an ugly hand injury in Week 12, dislocating his pinkie in two places. But he was able to return to the game after getting it reset in the locker room. Carr has been a full participant at practice all week and wasn’t wearing a glove at practice on Thursday. He is ready to go for Sunday’s matchup against the Bills. Start.
