Hype Report: Which Teams Are Overrated In Madden 11?
Turducken-powered hype alert! The team ratings for Madden 11 have been released, and in addition to giving Madden heads something to argue about, it also gives SportsGrid a chance to see which NFL teams are getting an early bump in pre-season hype.
But that doesn't mean they're perfect! One team in particular is getting a bit more Madden love than they should. First, the ratings:
|Rank||Team||Madden 11||Madden 10||Change|
|1||New Orleans Saints||92||94||-2|
|4||New York Jets||89||88||+1|
|6||Green Bay Packers||87||87||NA|
|8||New England Patriots||86||88||-2|
|10||San Diego Chargers||85||89||-4|
|13||New York Giants||81||81||NA|
|17||San Francisco 49ers||79||78||+1|
|27||Kansas City Chiefs||71||68||+3|
|29||Tampa Bay Buccaneers||69||67||+2|
|32||St. Louis Rams||66||65||+1|
The Ravens in particular are a surprise. Ranked number 8 in our TPVR ratings, the Madden programmers believe the Ravens have the 3rd-most talented roster in football. This rating is likely a result of the projected development of Ray Rice (4th overall in our Rotowire PVR rating) and Joe Flacco (88th), as well as the acquisition of Anquan Boldin (33rd).
But according to our TPVR, and the general consensus of power rankings from across the net, Madden's rating is a bit of a reach.
Will Ray Lewis and the Ravens live up to their 90 overall rating and roll into the AFC championship? Or will it be another example of Madden hype gone awry? Oh actual real-life football, why are you so far away from being played!
