Man Misses 15-Team, $100,000 Parlay Because Patriots Fail To Cover By One Point

Many of us are more than happy to see 2016 finally fuck off and leave, but none more so than this poor dumb schmuck. According to ESPN, a man bet a 15-team NFL parlay in Vegas, and had 14 correct going into the final Monday Night game between Baltimore and New England.
He just needed the Patriots to win by eight more more points, and he would collect 100 grand. And since New England had leads of 16-0 and 23-3, this thing was looking pretty, pre-tay good.
Because the Patriots beat the Baltimore Ravens by exactly seven, 30-23, the result of the 15th game of the parlay, after the previous 14 had come through, was a push.
William Hill spokesman Michael Grodsky confirmed to ESPN that it was an all-or-nothing parlay card. As such, the push didn't reduce it to winning a 14-leg parlay; it made the entire card worthless.
There are two ways to look at this. Either the guy was a degenerate gambler who deals with these issues all the time and to whom 100K doesn't mean that much -- or it was a once-in-a-lifetime shot that could have paid off his mortgage and covered him in glory for an entire generation. Since I'm an optimist, I prefer to think it's the latter.
