Marcus Allen Rips The Raiders’ Sack Celebration On Sunday: ‘Embarrassing’
You can't blame the Raiders for getting carried away with their first win after 10 losses. Or can You? Ex-Raider great Marcus Allen called a sack celebration in the fourth quarter of their win over Kansas City "embarrassing."
Here's what he's talking about. The Raiders sacked the Chiefs' Alex Smith, and celebrated as the Chiefs were lining up for a fourth-down play. Oakland was penalized for offsides.
Yeah, that was pretty bad.
“That will go down as one of the, I hate to use the word, but teaching moments,” he said. “It should because we were laughing yet we were embarrassed for them. I mean they’re almost 25 yards behind the quarterback … the two of them celebrating and the Chiefs are lined up on the line of scrimmage.”
“If the timeout wasn’t called that may have gone down as one of the all-time embarrassing plays,” Allen added.
He added the responsibility has to be on the players in that situation — no matter how many wins the team has (or has not gotten) in the season.
“You have to understand what's going on,” he said. “It’s not about you, it’s about the team.”
Allen also played for the Chiefs. Oakland won 24-20.
