Mel Kiper Jr. Doesn’t Think There’s A Franchise QB In The 2015 NFL Draft
The face underneath Mel Kiper Jr.'s haircut just told SportsCenter that the 2015 NFL Draft will NOT feature a franchise quarterback.
you know, you look at it, i don't think there is a franchise quarterback. marcus mariota i don't put in that category. i thought it would be jameis winston -- he would have had a chance to be a franchise quarterback like andrew luck. i said last year if winston had been able to come out he would have been the number one pick. this year, the issues away from the field...he has the size, the speed, the athleticism, the toughness and the character that you want, but i would say not say he's a franchise quarterback going in.
This is a pretty substantial change for the NFL's defacto draft expert, as he's had Oregon's Marcus Mariota at the top of his "Big Board." Maybe he thinks a team would take him with the first selection but shouldn't necessarily expect any prolonged success at position. Maybe he thinks a non-franchise quarterback is still better than everyone else in the 2015 NFL Draft class. Maybe he just forgot that he's ranked Mariota at number one. Whatever it is, it's confusing and probably very wrong, considering this is the man who compared Jamarcus Russell to John Elway.

Kiper went on to say that he think Winston's inconsistent play, quarter to quarter, will keep him from going higher than six, putting him well within reach of teams like the Jets, Giants, Washington and potentially the Bears, should they be so inclined to lose out.
