Metallica To Play Super Bowl Pre-Game Concert: Plus Top Rumors On Halftime Show Arist
Metallica is a Bay Area-based band, are big 49ers fans, and they have been known to what the kids call "rock." Of course those kids are now in their 50s, and the 49ers will be nowhere near Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara in February.
But Metallica god the nod today to be the headliner at the Super Bowl 50 Pregame Concert at AT&T Park on the Saturday before the game. Playing with them -- Cage the Elephant, whom I admit I know nothing about. So here, check 'em out.
Back in September, Billboard Magazine reported that Bruno Mars has been invited to "curate" the halftime show, whatever that means. Anyway, it's not clear if he has agreed to do it, and even if he does, there will be other acts. Here, reportedly, are the top contenders.
-- One Direction. Merciful Jesus, please do not let this happen. This was going to be the first year I watched the halftime show.
-- Coldplay. If you must, I won't complain. At least not out loud.
-- Beyonce. Bruno Mars wants her as his running mate. If he runs. An announcement should be made soon, but just in case he shows up, CBS will bring an extra microphone.
-- Nickleback. Ahahaha, not really. But you should have seen your face just then.
-- Adele. She's waiting -- won't turn off her cell phone, even at the movies.
