My Only Question Is Why? Dallas Mavericks To Honor Tony Romo By Signing Him To A One Day Contract
We have been hearing a lot about the ex Dallas Cowboys quarterback in the news recently and for good reason. He has decided to retire from the game of football to pursue a career in broadcasting with CBS. Good for him.
But most recently he has made headline in the basketball world. Why? Because the Dallas Mavericks intend to honor Romo by signing him to a one day deal, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. Although he will not be playing, he will be sitting on the bench for the Mavs final regular season home game against the Denver Nuggets.

Hey, it wouldn't hurt to throw Romo in there. Granted he might leave the game on a stretcher, the Mavs have nothing to lose. Seth Curry is still out, due to a shoulder injury, and the Mavs have no shot at the playoffs, so why not give Dirk a little extra help.
But for me this one day contract seems like a little much in my opinion. He was a terrific quarterback for the Cowboys, throwing for more than 34,000 yards and being the third of all time for career passing rate, but never winning a Super Bowl, and rarely showing up come playoff time. But that is a conversation for a different time. The man definitely deserves recognition for his achievements, but a one day contract, in basketball, is just very unusual. But I don't come up with this stuff, I'm just a writer and sports fanatic, what do I know?
