Neil deGrasse Tyson Says The Earth’s Rotation Helped Bengals Win In Week 5

The Cincinnati Bengals are the top dogs in the AFC North after a very close overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks put them at an undefeated 5-0 on the season thus far. They sealed the deal on a Mike Nugent 42-yard field goal that took a very fortuitous bounce off the left goal post.
That's one way to win a football game. Not only was it a thrilling conclusion to one of the day's most exciting games, but it got everyone's favorite astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson talking about Sunday football. According to Tyson, Nugent and the Bengals got a little love from Earth's rotation aka the Coriolis force. Obv.
After reading that a couple of times, I think I actually understand it! This is a perfect example of why Tyson is the world's trendiest and popular astrophysicist and cosmologist these days (sorry Stephen Hawking.)
For those of us who are sports addicts glued to our televisions on Sundays, but also want to feel like smart and productive members of society, Tyson is helping bridge the gap. And clearly we now know that when sports and science combine, it can be a very beautiful thing.
