Robert Kraft Tells HBO’s ‘Real Sports’ That The Rest Of The NFL Is Just Jealous
February 22 / Tanya Ray Fox / SportsGrid
HBO's Real Sports will air their profile on New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft on Tuesday night, and it features Kraft delivering what may be the franchise's defining quote. Per Chad Finn of Boston.com, reporter Andrea Kremer asked the longtime NFL owner what he thinks of the accusations that have been hurled at the Patriots for years now, culminating with the two-year DeflateGate saga.
His response was nothing if not brutally honest.
"Envy and jealousy are incurable diseases,’’ said Kraft. "The haters still hate. And I understand it, and we’ll do our best to keep them in that position." (via Boston.com)
This statement from Kraft is just the latest reminder that the Patriots give zero fucks about anything these days. It's a terrifying prospect for the league office, and it's a real buzzkill for other fans who hate the team that is alternately known as the 'Evil Empire.'
Hating them gets you nowhere. Suspensions and fines and docked draft picks get you nowhere. Twenty-five point leads in the Super Bowl get you nowhere. There's literally no known way to stop them. Do you know how empowering that must be to uber-competitive egomaniacs like Kraft, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady?
They really are the Death Star.
Unless the New York Jets secretly possess some blueprints that reveal a fatal flaw built into the Patriots that they can exploit when the time is right, there's a distinct possibility that New England wins every Super Bowl for the next five years.
And this is all not to mention the fact that Kraft was just dining with the President and the prime minister of Japan at Mar-a-Lago. Things are really coming up Kraft these days, and the only hope for the rest of the NFL - and maybe America - could rest in the hands of the goddamned Jets.
Good luck with that.
