Man, we are lucky people!" thought the headline writers and layout designers of the New York Post and Daily News. Yes, they were heady days for those who stand to benefit the most from outraged - and outrageous - New York sports storylines. "But," they thought, "surely it can't last. New York can only get spurned so often. What will fill the void NOW?!"
Christmas came early.
Yes, The Rex Ryan-Michelle Ryan-foot fetish saga is nothing short of a holiday miracle for these publications, giving them a bizarre-yet-compelling story, and also one very amenable to ridiculous wordplay. You can see above that the Post took advantage of the wondrous opportunity afforded them by the Ryans, while the Daily News pounced on it a day ago, before Rex's awkward press conference:
The paper didn't feature either of the Ryans on their back (sports section) page today, but made up for it with a whole lot of foot fetish punnery:
Not everyone wants this story to keep going, but it's a safe bet that several employees of the tabloids wouldn't mind seeing this thing drag on a bit. Or drag its feet, if you will. Sorry.
