NFL Allows Patriots To Reinstate Deflategate Equipment Guys. Wait, What?
So the two Patriots equipment dudes who were at the center of the Deflategate media tornado, John Jastremski and Jim McNally, are back on the job by the graces of the NFL, and it's like this whole thing never happened.
Today's NFL release:
One would think that after all this time and expense, the NFL would at least sacrifice a couple of fall guys. But no. This whole big Deflategate clown and monkey show was based on the texts between Jastremski, the assistant equipment manager, and McNally, the game day officials locker room attendant. The NFL so strongly believed their guilt that they took the case to federal court, which isn't exactly a tenant's dispute on Judge Judy.
And the case is still going on in the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
Remember when the Patriots suspended Jastremski and McNally for a thing that Robert Kraft denied ever happening? Remember when ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Patriots did so at the request of the NFL? And how Roger Goodell repeatedly denied that the league ever requested that?
So if Goodell is right, the NFL reinstated two guys whom they never suspended in the first place. And so we can officially declare Deflategate dead: gone to meet the choir-invisible. An ex-Parrot.
Now all we have are memories ...
