NFL Hall Of Famer Chris Doleman: OJ Simpson Should Be In The Hall Of Fame
Last night, Hall of Famer Chris Doleman sat down with the FNTSY Sports Network's Gabriel Morency to talk about a wide range of topics. Even though the entire conversation is interesting, the most intriguing topic of the conversation was definitely Doleman's thoughts on O.J. Simpson.
The interview shines some light on O.J., especially since everyone really just wants to throw him into the dark. All we ever hear about in the media is all the bad things that happen to O.J., or the things he did. Of course this is completely rightfully so, considering O.J. Simpson is a monstrous murderer who is spending the rest of his life in prison. It's crazy but without the recent "30 for 30" on O.J.'s life, we almost forget about Simpson the football player. Correction, the Hall of Fame football player.
We forget there was a time that O.J. wasn't synonymous with "killer". As Doleman mentions, we should recognize how great he was as a football player. We should applaud what he did for future black athletes and endorsements. We should remember how involved he was in he was involved in the TV mini-series "Roots", long before LeBron was appearing in Amy Schumer movies.
Listen we all know about the mistakes that O.J. has made. But it's crazy that those born within the last 30 years only know Simpson the criminal and not Simpson the football player and celebrity.
