NFL Ignores Its Bad (Sharper) Image
In the NFL's annus horribilis, the hits just keep on coming. Former Pro Bowl safety (hey, that's ironic) Darren Sharper now has federal drug charges added to his state sexual assault charges, so that's something.
If only Darren Sharper had starred in a sitcom many of us cherished in our childhoods, folks would be asking us not to rush to judgment.

Basically, Sharper is being charged with rape which he allegedly facilitated by drugging his victims, probably their drinks. For those of you keeping score, Sharper has now been charged in three states - California, Arizona and Louisiana - and is also the subject of a similar investigation in Nevada. Sharper now ``facing the possibility of a sentence of life in prison.

So add Sharper to the NFL's list of sins this season, which include Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, concussions, domestic abuse, drug abuse, and Thursday Night Frigging Football. But the funny thing is, things couldn't be better for the League. Ratings are up, revenues are up, and Commissioner Roger Goodell seems safer in his job than any other league commissioner. Perhaps someone put something in our drinks.
