Sunday Pre-Game NFL Injury News for Week 9
Jameis Winston, QB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winston was more involved at practice throughout the week, a sign that
his shoulder is improving. After getting injured in Week 6, he did
well in Week 7 but also caused a new injury to his throwing shoulder
in addition to the AC sprain. It showed in Week 8, but he has now hit
his Optimal Recovery Time. Expect a much better game from the Bucs QB
Emmanuel Sanders, WR – Denver Broncos
The Broncos are expected to have Sanders back today after he missed the
last two games due to an ankle sprain. Sanders remains one week away
from his Optimal Recovery Time and is a High Injury Risk. Only plug
him into Fantasy lineups today if you don’t have another option.
Inside Injuries has him as a “Risky Fantasy Start.”
DeVante Parker, WR – Miami Dolphins
Parker’s Injury Risk and Health Performance Factor (predictor of
performance) improved significantly this week as he hit his four-week
Optimal Recovery Time. Look for Parker to have a solid game today. The
only thing working against him is that he has had multiple ankle
sprains already this year, making it more likely he will get
re-injured. He is now an Elevated Injury Risk.
Leonard Fournette, RB – *UPDATE* – Fournette has been ruled out of today’s matchup against the Bengals by the Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone. In a statement released Sunday morning, Marrone stated, “Leonard Fournette will not suit up for the game due to an infraction of a team rule. This has been addressed internally, and further details will not be made public.”
Many were surprised when Fournette did not play in Week 7 due to his
ankle injury, but Inside Injuries said all along that it was very
possible he would miss a week. Now Fournette is out of the High Injury
Risk Category. He practiced in full this week and will suit up today.
Golden Tate, WR – Detroit Lions
Tate shouldn’t have played last week, and it showed in his
performance. Inside Injuries said that the shoulder injury would
impact ball security and his ability to reach for passes. Well, Tate fumbled and
did not have a very good game. He should look a bit better today, but
he has not hit his Optimal Recovery Time yet. Tate remains an Elevated
Injury Risk ahead of Week 9.
Devonta Freeman, RB – Atlanta Falcons
Freeman hurt his shoulder late in the game last Sunday but was able to
practice on a limited basis this week. He will play today, but the
Falcons may try to get Tevin Coleman in the mix more than usual.
Freeman’s Health Performance Factor is Above Average, so he should
still play pretty well despite the injury.
Corey Davis, WR – Tennessee Titans
Davis first hurt his hamstring during the preseason, then was
re-injured in Week 1 and has not played since. He is finally expected
to return today. Despite the long layoff, Davis remains an Elevated
Injury Risk due to the highly recurrent nature of hamstring strains.
The Titans may also ease him back into the offense, so wait for another
week before plugging him into Fantasy lineups.
