Oh, Look, Someone Returned A Kickoff For A Touchdown
Well this doesn't happen very often. Doug Baldwin, an undrafted rookie out of Stanford who is fighting to be the Seahawks sixth receiver, returned a kickoff 105 yards against Denver on Saturday night.
The new kickoff rule, which has teams kicking off from their own 35 yard line (as opposed to the 30), has definitely had an impact on returns through the preseason: in the first week of games, 20 percent of kicks were touchbacks, and in week 2, that percentage rose to 37.7. This was the first time in Denver, in fact, that either the Broncos or their opponents have ventured out of the endzone. It'll be interesting to see how many kneel-downs football fans will put up with before they stop pretending to care about player safety, and call for the old kickoff rule.
