On Skip’s Last Day On ‘First Take’, Of Course They Talk About Tim Tebow
Skip Bayless has been one of the more popular sports media personalities for years, even before "First Take". You either loved him, hated him, or just couldn't even listen to a word he said. But during his time on "First Take", he made a living off of two topics: Trolling Lebron James and glorifying Tim Tebow.
So it's only appropriate that on Skip's last day before he leaves for Fox Sports 1, that he and Stephen A. Smith took time out to troll LeBron and of course gush over Tebow. And this irrelevant argument wasn't even actually about Tebow. It was about Skip vs. Stephen A and who was ultimately right in their argument. The obvious answer was no one, since we all had to listen to their nonsense. But nevertheless, they needed one last manufactured fight.
We heard a lot of the same facts that we've heard Skip declare, yell, and scream before. He talked about Tebow's only real NFL stretch during 2011. Talked about the playoff game he won, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But he failed to mention how good the Broncos defense was that allowed his team to win. Of course he failed to mention that Demaryius Thomas was the player that really made the game winning touchdown happen in that playoff game. So basically it was everything we expected. They brought up Tebow, because it was their last show together and what's a final "First Take" with Skip Bayless without Tim Tebow? (Answer: Clearly not the final "First Take" with Skip Bayless).
Stephen A took the same stance he always takes. Like he usually does, he skipped the talking phrase and went straight into yelling at Skip, in an attempt to show all of the facts. Smith even pleaded with Skip to drop the conversation (adorable, right?) He wanted Skip to leave on a good note, with a nice image, despite how impossible as that may sound.
Would there be a Skip Bayless without Tim Tebow? Would there be a Tim Tebow without Skip Bayless? Yes. The answer is a resounding yes to both questions. Tebow would have been successful in college and not so much in the NFL without Skip. Bayless still would be making over $5 million from Fox and ex-boss Jamie Horowitz without Tebow, as he would have found someone else's ass to kiss.
We'd like to say we'll miss you Skip, but the truth is you're not really going anywhere. But we guess we'll miss your sparring sessions with Stephen A.? Eh.
