Percy Harvin Throws Some Shade At Seattle Seahawks On ‘First Take’
If you're going to talk some shit, ESPN's "First Take" is the place to do it. The show is on the road this week and took place today at Bills training camp in Rochester, NY, where the crew interviewed coach Rex Ryan, legendary QB Jim Kelly and new receiver Percy Harvin. And Harvin was by far the most interesting interview subject, thanks to his candor about his stint in Seattle.
As you may know, Harvin was run out of the Seahawks organization due to attitude problems, traded to the Jets (where Harvin languished on a paltry offense) mid-season. Reports of Harvin's discontent were rampant and his issues culminated with a fight between him and fellow receiver Doug Baldwin.
Some people might think it's in poor taste for Baldwin to out his receiving group and Pete Carroll like this, but the man was asked direct questions and he gave direct answers. Whether or not his version of events is accurate isn't for us to decide. We're just glad he decided to speak his truth with us.
Watch (Harvin is asked about "what's different" around the 0:42 mark):
The most salient bits:
most importantly, this year from seattle, i think i'm -- my teammates accept me a little more. what i mean by that i felt when i went to seattle a lot of the receivers took me as a threat rather than accepting me as a teammate. i always told those guys, i pulled them to the side several times after seeing the comments they was making to the media, hey, guys, i'm here to ball with you, to take us to the next level. a lot of guys were looking at they were established and they didn't need any help. i just took it as i never was accepted in the receiver group by all the members.
seattle at times i felt as though i had to come in and be the guy to sit in the back of the room, not say too much, kind of walk on egg shells. that in itself drew frustrations on top of not being accepted in my receiver group.
You heard it here first: It's all because of the jerks on the Seattle Seahawks, two-time NFC Champions.
