Rams Decide To Remove The Bubble Wrap From Jared Goff: He’ll Start Vs. Dolphins
In the most highly anticipated quarterback debut since Warren Beatty in Heaven Can Wait, Jared Goff, the No. 1 overall pick the draft, gets the start this Sunday for the Rams as they take on the Dolphins in LA. As first reported by Chris Mortensen (@MortReport).
Contrary to popular belief, this is no great epiphany for Jeff Fisher, nor is he "caving". It's more in the category of "what have I got to lose?" In their first season back in Los Angeles since a Clinton was president, the Rams are teetering on the edge at 4-5, so why not inject a little excitement into the proceedings? Boring the fan base to death with a series of field goals while the No. 1 pick in the land sits on the bench never seems like a sturdy plan.
Besides: Goff is ready. His own offensive coordinator and QB coach say so. He should have been put in two or three weeks ago -- the timing here is not ideal. But it's better than keeping him on the bench.
Usually I'd go to the stats here but there aren't any -- except for this. According to NFL Fantasy Football, Goff (1.1%) is owned in more leagues than Case Keenum (0.5%).
And now, Goff NFL highlights:
