Rejuvenated Offense Makes Titans Marcus Mariota a Sneaky Play
Your sneaky Fantasy Football plays for Week 10
Marcus Mariota vs. New England Patriots
Coming off of one of his best games of the season, Marcus Mariota will look to keep the success going in Week 10 with a matchup against a Patriots secondary that is currently near the bottom in points allowed (19.53 Fantasy PPG). In fact, the Patriots have allowed at least two passing touchdowns in four of their last five games. New England will undoubtedly try to keep Mariota contained in the pocket, which could actually help his Fantasy value in this game, as it seems making him more of a pocket-passer may be the source of the Titans’ rhythm. With the Titans likely trailing during this game, Mariota will have ample opportunity to stuff the stat sheet. With a realistic chance at a three-touchdown game, Mariota comes in as a potential QB1 finish in Week 10, making him a sneaky streaming option in season-long leagues. In DFS, he could be an overlooked cheap option that could help you cash in.
Ito Smith vs. Cleveland Browns
Already rostered in most formats, Ito Smith has maintained Flex status over the past few games. Smith has been a boom or bust play for many owners, scoring a touchdown in four of his last five games. In Week 10, his matchup against the Browns could prove quite fruitful. This Browns’ defense in currently one of the bottom three in points allowed to opposing running backs (25.49 Fantasy PPG). Over the last four games, it has averaged two touchdowns allowed to opposing runners, which bodes well for Smith. Look for the Falcons to establish a strong ground attack in this game, making both Tevin Coleman and Smith viable plays this week. Smith may even bring back low-end RB2 value in seasonal leagues. In DFS, Smith should be a guy that you plug into your lineup based on his price to give yourself some roster flexibility.
Alex Erickson vs. New Orleans Saints
While some may point towards Washington’s Maurice Harris as a player to target in Week 10, I have a different idea. With the injury to A.J. Green, the Bengals now find themselves looking for a player to step up in his absence. That player could be Alex Erickson. He should take advantage of a woeful Saints defense, the worst in Fantasy in points allowed to the position (36.39 Fantasy PPG). Erickson has not been a heavy factor in the passing game up until this moment, but his snap percentage have been rising (season-high 77% in Week Nine). In a game that should be a back and forth affair, the Bengals will need more than Tyler Boyd to put points on the board. Look for Erickson to be heavily involved out of the slot, making him a very sneaky play in Week 10. If you are in a pinch in your Flex spot this week, Erickson could be worth the add off the waiver wire. In DFS, his ownership should be very low and his price will be almost free, making him a no-brainer play for me.
Jesse James vs. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers’ defense is the worst unit in Fantasy as far as points allowed to opposing tight ends (13.16 Fantasy PPG). The Steelers will look to utilize the position in this matchup, but it’s a coin toss in a given week as to which player will be the tight end more targeted. Vance McDonald has been the more consistent of the two, but I have a hunch that we see Jesse James get into the end zone in this game. He may not wow you with a high volume of catches or yards, but getting a score at the tight end position matters; that just may be what you get from James in Week 10. Looking for a streaming option this week? James is your guy.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Call it a hunch, but I don’t think the Jaguars have figured it out on offense just quite yet. Oddly enough, this Colts’ defense has had a knack for getting into the end-zone (three defensive scores in 2018). I could see this defense creating pressure on Blake Bortles, which will rush throws and create opportunities for this defense. It may be a long shot, but if you need a home-run play for Week 10, stream the Colts defense and don’t look back.
