Report: Adrian Peterson To Be Arrested After Admitting To Smoking Weed Before Drug Test
October 9 / Eric Goldschein / SportsGrid
Remember when we said yesterday that Adrian Peterson's 2014 season is all but officially over? You can put the final nail in the coffin today, as court records show that AP admitted to violating his probation by smoking weed before a drug test on Wednesday.
Adrian Peterson admitted to a staffer he had 'smoked a little weed' before the test. As a result of that, the Montgomery County District Attorney has asked the judge in this case to set aside Peterson's $15,000 bond and have him arrested again.
However, there won't likely be any action on Thursday because the current judge presiding over Peterson's case is facing a recusal hearing scheduled to take place on Friday morning.
Peterson's attorney Rusty Hardin has not been available for comment.
There are, of course, two ways to look at this. One: We're really going to give this guy a tough time for smoking weed? His life and career have come to a screeching halt, he plays (or played) arguably the most brutal position on the field for years and his body is probably a daily prison of pain, he stands accused of child abuse, and he may have lost out on millions of dollars over something he considered to be normal -- do we really care if he gets stoned?
On the other hand, dude, you had one job, which was not to break the law again, and you did that. How stupid can you be?
Expect most people to come down on the latter side of this argument:
