Rob Bironas Allegedly Tried To Run Two Vehicles Off The Road Before Fatal Crash
The Rob Bironas tragedy became very weird late Monday night, with reports of two alleged road rage incidents just prior to his fatal crash on a road near Nashville on Saturday.
What happened the night that Bironas was killed? Reports of two separate road rage incidents have now surfaced, both allegedly involving Bironas, according to the Tennessean. Two Belmont College students reported that Bironas made threats at an intersection, and then chased them at speeds up to 110 mph. Later, a woman and her husband reported that the same vehicle tried to run them off the road, before speeding away. Bironas was killed in a crash moments later.
Bironas' wife had called police to report him missing just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
A Metro police spokesman on Monday said the investigation into the fatal crash is “ongoing.”
Fraley said he was a passenger in a vehicle driving behind Bironas’ white SUV on Battery Lane when he and others in the truck noticed a burning smell coming from Bironas’ vehicle.
“His window was down, and we pulled up and I said, “Hey man, just a heads up, something’s burning from your exhaust. Your exhaust smells horrible, just wanted to let you know,’’ Fraley recalled telling Bironas. “He looked over at me and said “I’m going to kill everybody in your (expletive) vehicle. It was so random, so bizarre I was like, “What?” And he said the exact same thing again.”
A high-speed chase ensued, said Fraley, and at one point “he tried to sideswipe the vehicle and missed us by a foot.”
Another driver placed a 911 call shortly thereafter, saying that a driver in a white SUV tried to run her vehicle off the road. From the 911 call:
"We let him go on past us because he tried to run us off the road and we don't know who he is. My husband said 'What's your problem?' He looked at us and sped off."
