Sammy Watkins Lashes Out At Bills Fans And Their ‘Little Jobs’
When last we left Sammy Watkins, almsot a year to the day from today, he had caught an 80-yard-plus pass and was heading toward the end zone, but slowed down to celebrate and was caught from behind by a Jets defender (see below).
I could watch that all day.
Now he's injured, again (first a calf, then a sprained ankle), and has played only four games this season. The Bills have a bye this week and meet the Dolphins on Nov. 8 -- it's not clear if Watkins, the team's No. 1 draft pick in 2014, will be ready for that.
This has not sat well with some fans, who have criticized Watkins' attitude and brittle nature on social media. Watkins has recently demanded to be more of a focus on offense, and some fans have also criticized him for going to Disneyland recently.
But Watkins' biggest mistake? Going on social media. Here's a screen grab of Watkins' recent Instagram post in which he blasts his critics:
Watkins later deleted the post, and tried to explain himself on Twitter, saying his words were only meant for his critics. He seems to have deleted that tweet as well.
Well, at least at most people's "little jobs" they don't celebrate until their work is done. This may be my favorite gif ever:
Of course fans are going to be unreasonable at times -- that comes with the territory. But those fans pay your salary with their "little jobs", Sammy. So put your head down and focus on the end zone for once.
