Seahawks DE Cassius Marsh Wants Your Help Tracking Down His Stolen $25,000 Magic Card Collection

When you think of the people who play Magic: The Gathering, you probably don't picture 6'4", 240-lb super athletes. To be honest, those kinds of behemoths seem more appropriate as some sort of in-game warrior spell (SPOILER: I'm down with MTG), as opposed to one of the nerds huddled in the back of some bookstore "exiling" creatures from his "graveyard". But if this week has taught us anything, it's to expect the unexpected.
Seahawks defensive end Cassius Marsh is a bonafide Planeswalker, whose card collection is worth in excess of $25,000 -- and under the cover of night, some goblin thief stole it from him.
Perhaps he should've had a circle of protection around the backpack he was keeping it in. Revised edition jokes? Anyone? Anyone? (Full disclosure: he had his car broken into Tuesday night in downtown Seattle.)
Real talk, though: to have $25,000 worth of Magic cards in a single backpack either means it was a huge backpack or Cassius Marsh rolls around with some dope ass decks.
Who ever stole my magic collection from my LR4 last night, if you are 12 plz return it and I will give you two tickets to next home game.
Confirming suspicions that, yes, he is a legitimate nerd, Marsh spoke with The Seattle Times about the recent theft, and in doing so, missed a perfect opportunity to make a joke about our next President playing with an orange deck.
“I’m a nerd, for sure,” Marsh said. “I’ve been playing since I was 11. How people like gaming, I like cards.
“It’s not even the money. I really enjoy playing the game. To me, that’s what I do to get my mind off things sometimes. You know how people zone out sometimes? That’s how I zone out. It’s hurtful because those are one things I really care about.”
Welcome to Trump's America, folks. Nothing is sacred anymore.
