SF Pot Dispensaries Doing Booming Business During Super Bowl Week
California has always had a love/hate relationship with pot -- it was the first state to legalize marijuana for medical use (1996), but is lagging behind in approving it for recreational use. Colorado, Washington, Alaska and Oregon have already beaten it there.
But I guess one could call it the unofficial state plant of The Golden State. In San Francisco, there are pot dispensaries everywhere, among them a couple right in the shadow of the Super Bowl City set up by SF and the NFL. Ostensibly for medical use, the Hilarity Weed is being sold to just about anyone who strolls in with anything resembling a doctor's note.
This week, at the Bloom Room Collective (on Jessie St. just off of Mission), they've got a couple of new brands.
Yep. Carolina Cam Crush and Broncos Mile High (test results pending) are top sellers right now, and will run you $20 per gram. Also available: pot-infused bon-bons and chocolate truffles.
But for a bitchin' Super Bowl party, one should head over to the Green Door Dispensary, which is running a special on their top strains during the Super Bowl. Bloomberg News:
The dispensary has a smoking lounge upstairs, where patrons puff on bongs and joints as three flat-screen televisions are tuned into ESPN and Comcast SportsNet. A clock on the wall is set to 4:20, a pot-culture term noting the time to light up.
“Super Bowl is always a good week for us,” Adam Rogers, 34, the shop’s manager, said in an interview in his office, where large, clear bags of weed sat near his desk.
And one Bloom Room customer said that he's going to have a Super Bowl Smoking Game, taking a bong hit of Cam Crush or Broncos Mile High every time a team scored.
