The Carolina Panthers are a buzz saw right now, reminiscent of the 2007 and 2011 New York Giants teams than ran through the playoffs like shit through a tin horn. A dominating pass rush, a stable of middling running backs combined with a potent passing attack has got them playing in Super Bowl 50 as four-point favorites against a legend on an iconic NFL franchise. The biggest difference between those Giants teams and this year's Panthers squad, of course, is that their quarterback isn't the hot-and-cold Eli Manning, but 2015's most likely candidate for Most Valuable Player.
A quarterback selected first-overall hasn't paid off like this since, well, Eli Manning won Super Bowl XLII MVP. Suffice it to say Cam Newton was a good investment.
Josh Freeman, on the other hand, not so much. Dude's basically out of football.
Long term give me Josh Freeman over Cam. Better leader, more consistent passer, more clutch, more poised under fire, more careful with ball.
