Stephen Colbert’s Barrage Of Sports Cameos End With Pep Talk For Bill Cowher
Last week we lamented the absence of sports guests in the lineup for Stephen Colbert's first two weeks of shows. We even suggested some, such as Tim Tebow and a joint appearance by Tom Brady and and Roger Goodell.
Stephen must have heard us, because three former sports greats and a retired NFL coach spilled onto his Late Show stage on Thursday night. Cowher, suffering a crisis of confidence (so the bit would have us believe) received a pep talk from Colbert.
Before that, Franco Harris, Richard Dent and for some reason Jim Brown had small moments.
So the answer to the trivia question "Who was Stephen Colbert's first CBS sports guest?" is Harris -- the former Penn State and Steelers running back and crazed Joe Paterno apologist. Combined with Brown, a noted misogynist who was once accused of throwing a woman off of a balcony, it gave the audience a lot to think about.
