Stone Cold Wants to Be Cowboys QB
Meredith, Staubach, Aikman, Romo....Stone Cold?!?!
Steven James Anderson, better known as the wrestler "Stone Cold Steve Austin", is throwing his hat in the ring to be the placeholder at quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys until Tony Romo returns from injury.
Anderson, a die-hard Cowboys fan, stated he could lead the Cowboys to victory on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, quipping "I think I can line 'em up, throw for about 300, 400 yards. Get (Jason) Witten open, get Dez (Bryant) working. A lot of underneath routes. Give (Darren) McFadden the ball a few times. Maybe do a little end-around, fake the reverse pitchout, let me run downfield and Darren can throw me the ball. About 60 yards out, catch it in full stride and boom, spike it over the damn goalpost."
When Romo does come back, Anderson jokingly stated that that would not mark the end of his football career.
"Y'all saw me catch all those beers all those years?" said Anderson, 50. "Damn-near never dropped any of them. You know how much money I could have made playing professional football as a tight end? But I can't jump and I can't run fast. That was my problem."
For what it's worth, Austin does have some football experience under his belt, having appeared in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard. Unfortunately, it didn't end so well for Stone Cold, as you can see below (NSFW)...
Since losing Romo to injury in Week 2, the Cowboys have lost five games in a row and now stand at 2-5. They'll get a chance to stop their slide with Matt Cassel at QB on Sunday night at home vs Philadelphia.
