Ted Cruz Offers Unsolicited Tom Brady Endorsement In New Hampshire
For the love of god, could all politicians just stop talking about Tom Brady and the Patriots? In fact, could they just leave sports in general alone and stop trying to suck the joy out of our favorite pastimes?
Ted Cruz, the psychopathic Republican presidential candidate that is despised by his own party almost as much as he is by Democrats, took his special brand of bi-partisan antagonism to New Hampshire; a place prized only by agenda-pushing politicians because it's a notable swing state.
According to Washington Post correspondent Katie Zezima, Cruz had barely taken the podium before he launched into his smarmy pandering to the local crowd by lauding the Patriots and defending Tom Brady.
As a Patriots fan, I feel dirty. My extremely talented colleagues at SportsGrid have already had a field day with Brady's admission that he is friends with Trump and that he supports Trump in that capacity. Now the only person possibly more terrifying than the Donald has also given Brady his gratuitous and unwelcome approval.
None of this would be that bad if it weren't for the fact that Brady is surprisingly terrible at deflecting awkward questions, and he is definitely going to be asked about Cruz's statements when he speaks to the media this week. Because why ask him about football and his impending fifth AFC Championship game in a row when you could goad him into an unflattering soundbite about a crazy man that may or may not be Sam Eagle the muppet?
