A lot has been made about the situation Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson now finds himself in. With the second-overall pick and no clear cut starter on his roster, Jackson has little time to decide whether he’ll stick with what he’s got or draft the franchise’s seventh quarterback in 12 years. Of course, that’s a tough bill of goods to sell fans who are probably/definitely sick of getting burned by the likes of Brady Quinn or Brandon Weeden, but it’s even more difficult to convince them that last year’s starter deserves to be behind center in 2016.
The way things have been going, it’d appear that Jackson isn’t high on Johnny Manziel — who’s seemingly been trying to make Jackson’s decision easier by partying his way through the offseason. Apparently they haven’t even spoken to one another. Like, at all. Gulp.
“I know a big deal was made that Hue hasn’t called Johnny yet,” Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said, in an effort to downplay the chasm between coach and the problem child at the top of the team’s QB depth chart. “Well, we’ve got 53 players on the active [roster] and 10 more, and there were a couple of other real prominent players that he just talked to in the last day or two. So I’m sure he’ll get around to talking to him.”
Sure enough, we’ve obtained screenshots of Hue Jackson’s attempt to contact Manziel, and ust like Cleveland’s chances of drafting a decent quarterback, they are not real. But because we love our readers soooooo much, we’re posting them anyways. FAKE NEWS! WOOHOO!
