The Battle of the Joes is Settled in the Joes Be Pros League
The Week 14 battle between the Joes, The Better Cardano vs. Luke’s Team, ended with Mike Cardano Jr’s team on top, 144.50 to 130.90. Luke Benigno’s squad entered the quarter finals skating on victories in three of his last four matchups. However, The Better Cardano made it four wins in a row with the victory and is clearly the team on a roll in the Joes Be Pros League.
Cardano got great performances from Carlos Hyde (27 pts.) and Jordy Nelson (22.10) and came back on Monday night after being behind at the end of Sunday’s games. In the previous matchup between these two teams, it was Luke’s Team that came out on top by a score of 162.30 to 139.04. So, this win is sort of a revenge win for The Better Cardano. The road to the championship won’t be an easy one for Cardano, who now faces Maaaarv in the semi-finals for a chance to play in the Fantasy Super Bowl. Chris Meaney’s team was on a by last week after compiling a record of 11-2 during the regular season.
The other semi-final matchup featured Kai Forbath Fanclub versus Joe Buck Lite. The two teams battled back and forth on Sunday but Mike Blewitt’s Joe Buck Lite prevailed 146.64 to 127.26. It wasn’t looking good for JBL entering Monday Night Football but he got a 38.14 point effort from Patriots QB Tom Brady to seal the win. Tyler Eifert contributed 21.80 points and Blewitt got 11 points from the Kansas City defense and special teams. Kai Forbath Fanclub’s Scott Engel was the favorite entering this playoff matchup but he left too many points on his bench to overcome JBL.
Joe Buck Lite was the lowest seeded team in the playoffs, yet they are advancing to the semi-finals. I asked coach Mike Blewitt about this and what he thought his team’s chances were going forward.
TM - Mike, you squeaked by the Kai Forbath Fanclub to make it into the semi-finals where you'll be facing the second-best team in the league. Do you think you have the roster to beat Team A, and go on to win the whole thing, even though your team is the lowest seed in the tournament?
Mike replied, “My team is the lowest seed in the tournament because it didn't look pretty with Tom Brady and Tyler Eifert on ice early in the season...But, as Tony Cincotta often says, we are not trying to be the best team after the draft but the best team during the playoffs. I have flaws but I feel good...
The semi-final matchups will feature Joe Buck Lite versus Team A, and The Better Cardano versus number one seed, Maaaarv. In any given week, either Joe Buck Lite or Team A has the roster to dominate and win their matchup. The Better Cardano will have their work cut out for them up against Maaaarv, who’s been on a roll for most of the last half of the season.
