The Dance, She Is Over: Bills Fire Rex Ryan
If you're just in from Tonga and all you know is rugby, let me explain Rex Ryan in two sentences: When Ryan was hired by the Bills, he signed IK Enempali, after Enempali had broken Jets' QB Geno Smith's jaw. Ryan had coached Smith with the Jets.
The Bills fired Ryan as head coach today after a two-year stint with the Bills in which his teams went 15-16, including 7-8 this season. After two winning seasons with the Jets to begin his head coaching career, Ryan hasn't had a winning season since.
Ryan, son of former Bears defensive coordinator Buddy Ryan, spent 19 seasons as an assistant coach/coordinator at the college and NFL level before becoming head coach of the Jets in 2009. According to SB Nation NFL, he told the Bills that if they were going to fire him, to fire him now -- and they reportedly obliged.
