Beat Engel’s Team got the second-highest player point total this week from Aaron Rodgers (41.84) to get the win over Hi There’s Team (5-3) 136.74 to 111.48.
Beat Engel’s team (4-4), managed by Mike Cardano Sr. dispatched Tony Cincotta’s Hi There by a score of 136.74 to 111.48. Cardano benefited from a resurgent Aaron Rodgers who posted 41.84 points, the second most of any player this week. While the original intent of the Joes Be Pros League was to raise a little money for charity, Cardano clearly has another goal in mind. I had the opportunity to ask him about his big win against Hi There, but it’s clear that, like Bill Belichick, he’s “on to Engel.”
Sensing this, I asked Mike, “You’re coming off a big win in Week 8 against Tony Cincotta and your matchup in Week 9 is against your nemesis, Scott Engel. Your team is projected to win this matchup by just two points. What are your thoughts as this big matchup approaches and what, if anything, will you do to ensure victory?”
And Mike replied, “I fully expect Engel to wilt under the pressure and err in his lineup strategy. I saw him earlier today in the office and I can see he’s intimidated because no one wants to lose to me with my 3 TE strategy, as all these “experts” have gone on record as saying it will never work. I’ve knocked off Blewitt, then Cincotta and Engel will be the next in line to fall as I start my playoff push…”
Cardano enters Week 9 in ninth place overall, while Blewitt sits fifth, Cincotta is fourth and Engel is in the catbird’s seat in third place. With just a few weeks to go until the Fantasy playoffs it will be interesting to see whether Cardano can make a leap in the standings.
Adam’s Team (6-2) entered Monday night’s game just behind Gregg’s Super Team (4-4) but they came from behind on the strength of WR Alshon Jeffery’s performance to win 139. 62 to 115.70. The win put Adam’s team back in first place and knocked Gregg’s Super Team down to sixth overall.
Joe Buck Lite (4-4) crushed The Better Cardano (4-4) 180.70 to 118.18. Mike Blewitt, Joe Buck Lite manager, was bolstered by Tom Brady (38.10), Amari Cooper (35.30) and Tyler Eifert (25.20) who all beat their projected numbers this week. The Better Cardano’s Mike Cardano Jr. got disappointing production almost across the board. He’s now lost two weeks in a row and dropped to seventh place.
FerdinandoD’s team (2-6) pulled off its second victory of the season in an upset over George Kurtz (3-5) 137.50 to 125.50. Kurtz could have won this matchup if he’d only played Derek Carr over Drew Brees. This marks the second loss Kurtz has incurred because of a lack of faith in Carr.
Luke’s Team (4-4) got 35.68 points from Blake Bortles and 25.70 from Jamison Crowder to knock off Liberty City Wrath (1-7) 131.18 to 79.70. There isn’t much to say here; Liberty City has thrown in the towel, so victory is almost mandatory if you’re facing them.
Maaaarv (6-2) picked up 23.50 points from Jordan Matthews and 22.80 from Jameis Winston to squeak by the Kai Forbath Fanclub (5-3) 138.10 to 125.96. Maaaarv is still one of the top teams but Scott Engel’s KFF is right on their tail. Next week, we’ll feature comments from Engel about his matchup against Mike Cardano Sr. in Week 9.
