The Patriots and Falcons Set to Make Super Bowl History
The matchup for Super Bowl LI (51) is set. The Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots will square off against each other at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on February 5th. The Patriots are making their ninth Super Bowl appearance, the most of any team in the NFL. It is also their second appearance in the last three years and the seventh with head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady leading the team. The Falcons will be making their second appearance in a Super Bowl. Their last appearance was Super Bowl XXXIII (33) in 1999, a game they lost to the Denver Broncos 34-19.
If you or someone you know collects official NFL memorabilia, Steiner Sports has one of the actual footballs from Super Bowl XXXIII. The ball is in pristine condition and it has the Super Bowl XXXIII logo on it along with then Commissioner Paul Tagliabue’s engraved signature. For just $99, you could have a great ball that’s all ready for you to get signed. Since Super Bowl XXXIII was the final NFL game for Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway, perhaps you could get him to sign it for you.
Speaking of John Elway…there are a whole bunch of items at Steiner Sports for fans of the former Denver Broncos quarterback (and current general manager/executive VP). Some are quite interesting. One such item is an art piece called “The Art of the Pass,” which features a collage of Elway images as he goes through his throwing motion with the Rocky Mountains as the backdrop. This a signed piece that is available at a very reasonable price. It will only increase in value as time goes by.
It is just one of nearly three dozen items at Steiner Sports dedicated to Denver Broncos players. Other items include pictures of linebacker Von Miller and defensive back Champ Bailey. There are helmets, mini-helmets and college helmets all signed by Elway or Peyton Manning. There’s even a signed program from Super Bowl L (50).
But I digress… We were supposed to discuss the Patriots and Falcons, and their path to Super Bowl LI (51). As previously stated, the Falcons have only been to the Super Bowl once before; in 1999 they played against the Denver Broncos. Steiner Sports has some interesting historical items related to the Falcons. For instance, there is a signed photo of coach June Jones, who led the team from 1994 to 1996. There are also several signed photos of running back Warrick Dunn, who is probably the most famous running back to wear the Falcons’ uniform, and there is also a picture of Ty Detmer, a forgettable QB if there ever was one. The only current Falcons player with memorabilia available at Steiner Sports is quarterback Matt Ryan, whose signed football is available at a nominal price. Of course, if the Falcons win the Super Bowl, you will see a great deal more items made available. The price will certainly go up if the Falcons win, so now is the time to invest.
Super Bowls are becoming old hat for the Patriots. They’ve won four Super Bowls in six tries since Bill Belichick became the head coach in 2000. During those 17 years, Tom Brady has been the quarterback in all but two seasons. Drew Bledsoe was the starting quarterback in 2000, but an injury at the beginning of the 2001 season led to Tom Brady’s ascension to the top of the depth chart. Brady has played every game of every season except for 2008, when a knee injury knocked him out for the entire year during the second game of that season. That kind of durability in a quarterback, in any player really, is extremely rare. On top of that, Brady has produced like a master quarterback in just about every season along the way.
Steiner Sports has some very special Patriots memorabilia available. They are also running a special promotion right now. Purchase any New England Patriots item on this page, and you’ll receive a special free gift from Steiner Sports. Two of my very favorite Patriots memories have memorabilia available for them as part of this special promotion. First, there is a picture of Adam Vinatieri making a field goal attempt during the infamous “Snow Game” against the Oakland Raiders in 2003. The other favorite is a picture of linebacker Tedy Bruschi, whose interception and run scored the only touchdown in that same game. It was a very special game during what ended up being a very special season.
This is just the beginning of Steiner’s Patriots collection, which has grown to include some 66 items of memorabilia. There are autographed pictures from players like WR David Patten, DB Malcolm Butler, a Darrelle Revis signed mini-helmet and of course, an assortment of pictures, helmets and footballs featuring Rob Gronkowski’s signature.
This is just look at just a few of the thousands of wonderful items available from Steiner Sports. Visit their website at SteinerSports.com to get a look at them.
